Privacy & cookies

This notice explains how I handle information from this website and business enquiries.

Who is responsible

I’m Austin Colorite, trading as Ornis, based in London, United Kingdom. I am the controller of the information covered here. Contact austin@ornisconsulting.com for privacy questions or requests.

Client projects involving interviews, employee assessments or client records have their own agreed scope, data-handling responsibilities and privacy information before collection begins.

Information and purposes

Enquiries: I receive the name, email address, optional business information, selected service, enquiry route and message you submit, plus subsequent correspondence. I use these to answer your enquiry and discuss potential work. My lawful basis is the legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries. Where you ask about entering a contract with you personally, the basis may instead be steps at your request before entering that contract.

Website operation: the hosting provider processes technical request information, such as IP addresses and browser/request details, to deliver and protect the website. The purpose is a reliable, secure service, based on legitimate interests.

The form marks required fields. You can choose not to provide information, but I need contact details and enough context to respond. Please do not submit sensitive personal data or confidential client material. An enquiry does not add you to a marketing list.

Who receives information

Netlify hosts the website and handles contact-form submissions. Google handles email correspondence through Gmail. Information is shared with these providers as needed for those services, rather than sold to advertisers.

I may disclose relevant information where required by law, a valid court order or other binding legal process, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. The applicable basis is a legal obligation or the legitimate interest in protecting legal rights, depending on the circumstances.

International processing

I am based in the UK. Providers may also process information in other countries, including the United States. A transfer requiring safeguards must be covered by an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards, such as approved contractual clauses and any necessary supplementary measures.

Netlify publishes its data-processing and transfer terms; Google explains its processing in its privacy policy. Contact me for details of the arrangements relevant to your information or to request information about applicable safeguards.

Retention and previous signups

Enquiry records are kept while I respond and during any resulting business relationship. Later retention depends on outstanding follow-up, contractual or legal record-keeping requirements and the need to resolve disputes. Information no longer needed for those purposes should be deleted. Hosting logs and backups follow the provider’s retention arrangements.

If you previously submitted a newsletter signup, it is not being used to send a newsletter. You can ask for deletion using the email above. Any retained opt-out record is limited to what is needed to respect your choice; removing the signup form does not itself erase earlier records.

Cookies, fonts and interactive tools

The website does not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or embedded third-party media. Its code does not set cookies or store information in your browser’s local storage. Fonts and images are served from this website, without requests to Google Fonts. Hosting still involves the technical request processing described above.

The illustrative demos and readiness assessment run in your browser. Their answers are not submitted to Ornis or a live AI service. They do not make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.

If tracking that requires consent is introduced, it will need your consent before it runs, with an easy way to change your choice. This notice will be updated to describe any such change.

Minors

Ornis provides consulting services for businesses and professionals. These services are not directed at anyone under 18, and I do not intentionally collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided personal information through this website, contact me so I can review it and delete it where appropriate.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, erase, restrict or receive a portable copy of your personal information. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your situation, and to direct marketing at any time. If processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Email me to exercise a right. Requests are normally free, and I will respond within one month. If a permitted extension is needed because of complexity or the number of requests, I will explain it within that month. I may need proportionate information to verify your identity.

You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. Where EU GDPR applies, you may also complain to an EU supervisory authority, particularly in the country of your habitual residence, workplace or the alleged infringement. The EDPB lists the EU supervisory authorities.
